Manchester United







I don't know about you guys, but this is the football team i like the most, one of the team i've known since early days i ever heard the sport named football. Many asked me why i like this club so much. Well the truth is,i admire the quality of this club which seldomly have in other club anywhere in the world. Now, i want to share some fact about this great club that only few people know including MANCHESTER UNITED supporter itself.

Former known as - Newton Heath LYR (Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway)[1887],
Names before workers in the railway yard at Newton Heath indulged their passion for association football with games against other departments of the LYR or other railway companies


Current Official Name - Manchester United Football Club (MUFC) since [1902],
A.K.A - ManU, Man Utd, MU, Manchester United FC, Red Devils etc. After a couple of alternative names to replace 'Newton Heath LYR' was rejected such as Manchester Celtic & Manchester Central in 1902

Darkest Day :


6th February 1958. a charter plane carrying MU's personnel from Belgrade for semi final match against Red Star Balgrade of 1958 european cup, crashed shortly after refulling in Munich while on the way back to england claimed 23 lives, among them were 8 MU players Roger Byrne (28), Eddie Colman (21), Mark Jones (24), David Pegg (22), Tommy Taylor (26), Geoff Bent (25), Liam Whelan (22) and Duncan Edwards (21) & 3 Club Officials, Club Secretary Walter Crickmer, Trainer Tom Curry and Coach Bert Whalley. among other who lost thier lives were Eight journalists, Alf Clarke, Tom Jackson, Don Davies, George Fellows, Archie Ledbrook, Eric Thompson, Henry Rose, and Frank Swift who was a former Manchester City player. Plane captain Ken Rayment, Willie Satinoff, Travel agent Bela Miklos and crew member Tom Cable
